DUNDEE UNITED COMMENCE MAJOR CONSULTATION EXERCISE

2nd October 2003

Dundee United Football Club today embarked on a major consultation exercise with all of its stakeholders, including supporters, sponsors, advertisers and other important groups, to ensure that the Club is fully aware of their views and opinions on a wide range of issues. The exercise will not only seek opinion on current levels of service, together with suggestions for improvements, but will also help influence the future policy and strategy of the Club in many areas.

The Club undertook to consult more widely and more frequently under the terms of the Supporters' Charter launched in the summer. While regular meetings are held and will continue to be held with supporters' groups, this exercise will now broaden the range of opinion received and provide an opportunity to put forward views on matters which until now have not been consulted on.

Dundee United Director Derek Robertson said, "We are aware that supporters, sponsors, customers and shareholders of the Club have strong opinions on a wide range of issues which are important to the current and future well-being of the Club. These opinions are extremely valuable to us. We are also aware that many individuals and businesses wish to have a closer and more active relationship with the Club. This consultation exercise will attempt to collect and act upon these views and identify how best to achieve a closer relationship with those who wish this.

"Open meetings are in the course of preparation for the various supporters' groups and there is already regular communications with these bodies. We also believe that the views of the many hundreds of individuals and businesses that regularly support the Club through advertising, sponsorship and hospitality schemes should also be sourced. These views are being sought, in the first instance, by a detailed questionnaire and will be followed up by a series of meetings in due course. Further stakeholder groups will then be consulted over the course of the season.

"This is a major initiative to involve and include all of our stakeholder groups. As far as we are aware this approach has not been undertaken in the same way by any other Club. We are all Dundee United supporters; we are all in this together and it's important to let everyone know that their views are important and will be given very serious consideration."
