UNITED LOSE TO MOTHERWELL

3rd January 2004

Ian McCall made two changes to the starting line-up with Barry Robson and Andy McLaren dropping out and Chris Innes and Jason Scotland on from the start.

The first half of this match belonged to United and they took a deserved half time lead from a well-executed free-kick by Mark Wilson (pictured). Then, right on the whistle McIntyre was unlucky to see his header from a Wilson cross rebound to safety.

Motherwell were a transformed side in the second half and equalised on the hour mark through Clarkson. Even then, the Tangerines could have gone back in front from a close range McLaren volley but the ball came off Marshall who knew very little about it. A minute later the home side went ahead when Clarkson rose unchallenged to head home from a corner. He completed a hat trick scoring in the last minute with United pushing forward.

Gallacher, McCracken, Innes (Duff 36), Archibald, Wilson, McInnes, Kerr, J Paterson (McLaren 66), Dodds, McIntyre (Samuel 49), Scotland.
