UNITED APPOINT ASSOCIATE DIRECTORSHIPS

1st March 2004

Dundee United today announced the appointment of two new Associate Director positions at the Club.

One of the positions goes to ArabTRUST, the Dundee United Supporters' Trust, which has recently purchased a shareholding in the Club on behalf of its membership. The Trust is established as an Industrial & Provident Society and was launched in February 2003 to provide Dundee United fans with ownership, influence and representation in the Club. In just over a year, it has attracted almost 500 fully registered members, invested in both the community programme and share capital of the Club and become a significant shareholder in the process. The Trust has elected Chairman, Mike Barile, to be its representative as Associate Director. The appointment marks a further step by Dundee United to provide fans with real influence and representation in the affairs of their Club.

Peter Cabrelli, former Group Human Resources Director with Bank of Scotland and HBoS, is taking up the other Associate Director position. Peter has held a series of senior executive appointments in Brussels, Hong Kong and London, returning to Scotland in 2000 to take up the position with Bank of Scotland. Peter is a native Dundonian and has been a Dundee United supporter since boyhood. His father, also Peter, played for United in the 1940s.

Dundee United Chairman Eddie Thompson said: "I am delighted to confirm these appointments, both of which will strengthen and complement the decision making of the full Board. In the case of the Trust, it will strengthen the links with our supporters and marks a significant milestone in the Board's aim to ensure that Dundee United fans have influence and representation in the decision making process of the Club. I have long advocated that fans should have a responsible role to play in their club and, in these very difficult financial conditions, it is even more important that their views are heard. It is much more effective for this to be done via the share structure of the Club and I hope that, in time, the Trust can increase their shareholding to the extent that a full Board position can be secured.

"Peter Cabrelli will add considerable expertise to the Club. He brings over 25 years' international human resources experience gained at the highest levels in various business sectors, and his advice will be invaluable. There is a strong Dundee United connection with Peter's family and I believe that these links are also important."

Both appointments are effective from 1 March 2004.
