ALL SQUARE AT DUNFERMLINE

17th April 2004

For the trip to meet Dunfermline this afternoon, United were still without Charlie Miller due to suspension and also started the match without regulars Jim McIntyre and Mark Kerr. Craig Easton continued in the midfield and Derek McInnes returned to the side, whilst Jason Scotland started up front.

United had the better of the first half exchanges and had several good opportunities to take the lead with the best chances falling to Easton who fired wide and McLaren whose shot was tipped over by the keeper. Dunfermline had not seriously threatened the United goal but they went in at the break with a one goal advantage, scored by Shields in time added on.

After the interval, Dunfermline were more adventurous than they had been in the first period but United continued to be the more creative and whilst both sides had chances to score it was United who netted to level the match when David McCracken forced home a knock back by Dodds from a Robson corner with just over an hour played. The Terrors went looking for a winner and Scotland and Samuel both forced Ruitenbeek into fine saves but they had to settle for a point when, on the balance of play, they should really have taken all three.
