INTERNET BROADCASTING OF GAMES

30th July 2004

As previously intimated in the weekly newsletter, we are currently investigating the viability of broadcasting Dundee United games, by subscription, via the internet. This will allow Dundee United fans throughout the world to access live or archived games and highlights. The possibility also exists to include direct input from players, management and coaches, together with competitions and input from fans.

It should be emphasised that current regulations restrict live transmission of games in certain regions, such as the UK. Within the UK, moving pictures can only be broadcast via the club website after a defined 'hold back' period. For games on a Saturday, the hold back period ends at midnight on the Sunday after the game. For games on any other day, the hold back period ends at midnight on the day of the game. Outside the UK, transmission must comply with the local football governing bodies' regulations. In general, these hold back restrictions do not apply to other regions such as North America or Australia.

In order for us to assess the likely demand for this new feature, we have arranged an online survey with a potential provider.

We shall be obliged if you will take a few minutes to complete the survey, which is specific to Dundee United only. The information collected will be very helpful in determining how best to proceed and will not be used for any other purpose.
