ALEX SMITH DEFENDS ARRANGEMENTS

12th October 2000

Alex Smith is annoyed at criticisms of his arrangements for cover while he and assistant Maurice Malpas were away on international duty.

He stormed,"There have been suggestions that there are too many cooks at the Club. I refute that. What we do at Dundee United is nobody's business but our own; all we seek to do is improve things. So what if the Chairman watches training. I know Chairmen who only surface on matchdays. I am fortunate that mine is more than capable of offering suggestions. But I am the Manager, the man who makes the decisions on coaching, scouting for players, and who gets signed - nobody else!"
