PSYCHO TAKES ON NEW ROLE

16th March 2005

Dave has been coaching the young players at Tannadice in recent times, in addition to assisting with the first-team squad two days a week. Gordon wants to instill a winning mentality and also a real sense of Dundee United tradition in the dressing room and didn't have to look far to find these qualities.

"Dave Bowman has the exact qualities I am looking for," said Gordon.

"He has a winning mentality, a terrific will to win and a great attitude to the game.

"I want him around the players every day and to get his qualities to rub off on them. Dave will now be with the first team every day.

"Unfortunately, like my own position, it can only be considered temporary, but, again, he, like me, has a wonderful opportunity."

In addition, Gordon has handed a coaching role to physio Jeff Clarke, a former coach at Newcastle and Leeds, and Billy Dodds has a new position.

The midfielder/striker, who was already involved in the coaching set-up, has been asked to take on more coaching responsibility but will continue to be available for selection.
