CHIS IS THE MAN FOR EDDIE

24th May 2005

Gordon Chisholm was today confirmed as the new Manager of Dundee United Football Club.

Chairman Eddie Thompson announced at a press conference that Gordon was appointed Manager on a three-year contract. His backroom team of Tony Docherty and Dave Bowman will continue to work alongside him.

Gordon Chisholm was appointed caretaker Manager in March this year following the departure of Ian McCall

Eddie Thompson commented: "I said after the departure of Ian, that we would take our time in looking for a new Manager and, between then and now, we have received over 50 applications for the position.

"Gordon was appointed caretaker Manager and was told that he had an excellent opportunity to land the job on a permanent basis.

"In what proved to be an eventful few weeks, Gordon and the team helped ensure our SPL survival and also led us into a Scottish Cup Final.

"We have all been very impressed by the way Gordon has conducted himself over the last few weeks. His professionalism and knowledge of the game are there for everyone to see.

"I am delighted that he has accepted the Manager's job and I look forward to working with him in the future in helping to ensure Dundee United go from strength to strength."

Gordon Chisholm said: "The Chairman promised me honesty from day one and this is exactly what he has given me. I am pleased that he has now offered me the job on a permanent basis.

"It was vital that we kept Dundee United in the SPL and that was one of my main priorities. We have been successful in that aim whilst also reaching the Scottish Cup Final.

"The Chairman said in March that I stood as good a chance as anyone in getting this job - I think we have delivered for each other."
