SCOTTISH CUP - PROVISIONAL PLANS

25th May 2005

Following detailed discussions between Dundee City Council, Dundee United FC and Tayside Police it has been decided that should the club win the Scottish Cup final on May 28th, a celebration will take place at Tannadice on Sunday May 29th. This will allow as many fans as possible to see the team with the cup on their return to Dundee.

Lord Provost John Letford would join the team to congratulate them on behalf of the whole city. He said: "We are delighted that Dundee people would get the chance to celebrate if the team win the cup. Arrangements are being made as a result of close co-operation between the city council, Tayside Police and Dundee United.

"I would also like to take this opportunity to wish Dundee United every success in the Scottish Cup Final on Saturday.

"We are extremely proud of the team's efforts in reaching the final and we are all hoping that they can bring the cup back to Dundee. The club has already brought great honour to the city of Dundee and I would like to send my best wishes to the team ahead of the final."

If the team is successful, the players will parade the cup around Tannadice at 11.30am on Sunday 29 May. The gates at Tannadice will be open for free entry from 11am and fans are requested to arrive early to ensure safe access into the ground. Tannadice must be vacated by 12.30pm to allow for the preparations for the Junior Cup Final to proceed.

There will be no event if the team do not win the cup on 28 May.
