EARLY FAREWELL TO CLASVASQUIN

4th October 2000

Boss Alex Smith and his assistant Maurice Malpas have taken temporary leave from their Tannadice duties to take charge of Scotland Under-21's trip to face Croatia next week. That leaves John Blackley to oversee team matters for now, and his first duty, sadly, was to bid farewell to defender Reinaldo Clavasquin. The Honduran's Tannadice career seems to be over before it has really begun - he has gone back home for personal reasons.

Despite Clavasquin's departure, the remainder of the South and Central American imports continue to make an impression around Tannadice. Uruguayan midfielder Carlos Marcora was impressive in the Under-21 League fixture with Rangers, while the Argentinian trialist on show got on the score sheet.

The second-string encounter also allowed defenders David Worrell and David Partridge to get in more match practice after their recent injury problems.
