CHAIRMAN HAILS SIGNING AND ASKS FOR FANS' BACKING

10th June 2005

Dundee United Chairman Eddie Thompson hailed the signing of Lee Miller as a further sign of his determination to return the Club to a challenging position in Scottish football and appealed to United fans to back his efforts.

In a personal message, Eddie Thompson said, "Lee Miller is regarded as one of the most highly rated prospects in the Scottish game and his capture, against stiff competition, is a real coup for the Club. He was the first transfer choice of Gordon Chisholm and, judging by my post bag, most United fans. I am delighted to be able to back Gordon's judgement and, at the same time, give United fans the type of player they want to see at Tannadice.

It is no secret that I am backing United both emotionally and financially. I am happy to accept that this is my role at present. However I cannot continue to do this indefinitely and I cannot continue to do this alone. I need the fans to also back the Club. Almost 17,000 United fans attended the Scottish Cup final and, regardless of the result, had a tremendous experience. They were fantastic and added immensely to the occasion. Dundee United - and Scottish football - need some of them to return to Tannadice on a regular basis.

We have a season ticket base of just under 5000. If just a fraction of the 'extra' cup final support (say 10% - 20%) purchased a season ticket it would make a huge difference to the Club, repay my faith and perhaps lead to further signings.

We have a wonderful Early Bird season ticket offer until 26 June with prices as low as
