NEW BOY JAMIE OUT FOR SEASON

30th November 2000

An encouraging medical report on hospitalised Tangerine Jamie Fullarton brought a smile to the face of Tannadice Manager Alex Smith. It reported on the surgery carried out on the horror injury sustained by the midfielder on Tuesday's SPL defeat by Kilmarnock. But for the swift actions of the United medical team led by Dr Derek McCormack, Fullarton might have lost his right foot such was the extent of the damage in the fracture dislocation.

Explained boss Smith: "The operation was a success and Jamie will start his rehabilitation in around six weeks time. He is of course ruled out for the rest of the season. He has had two plates inserted in the ankle area, and is expected to recover full fitness. The big thing is that there is no danger to his career, and everyone is delighted to hear that news".
