WORRELL HEADS FOR PLYMOUTH ON LOAN

20th November 2000

Defender David Worrel is going on loan to English Third Division outfit Plymouth Argyle for three months. Argyle, of course, are managed by ex-Tannadice boss Paul Sturrock who signed the player for United from Blackburn Rovers.

A former captain of the Republic of Ireland Under-21 side, David was plucked from Rovers reserves by Sturrock and impressed many with his diligent defending in his five outings for United before the end of Season 1998/99. He gained considerable first team experience throughout 1999/00 but injuries interrupted his progress during the 2000/01 season and the loan arrangement provides him with a chance to gain more first-team experience.
