YOUTHS WIN 1 - 0 AGAINST ST MIRREN

28th August 2009

A well-taken goal by Lewis Swanson earned the Tannadice team their first three points of the season at McKenna Park yesterday afternoon.

A bumpy pitch and a strong wind was hardly conducive to good football. Consequently, few chances were created, but the visitors definitely had the better of them.

The one they took came after 27 minutes when Dale Hilson made a great run down the right before delivering a cross to the back post that Swanson half-volleyed home.

Though Hilson did have a couple of chances later on, failure to capitalise on them was in the end of no consequence.

That was down to the Tangerines defending solidly to the extent that keeper Mark McCallum was never tested, having to make only one save of a routine nature..

Dundee United: McCallum, Irvine, Hill, R Smith, Mosson, Allan, Stokes (Scott 80), Lee, L Swanson (Shaw 82), Thomson (Murray 70), Hilson. Subs not used: Hindley, McCulley, Leitch.
