DEVELOPMENT SQUAD: ROSS COUNTY 3 UNITED 3

27th January 2015

A great second half performance by the Tannadice youngsters saw them come from two down at the interval to draw at Victoria Park this afternoon. Indeed, with the chances United had in the latter stages, County could consider themselves fortunate to get a point. The Tangerines got off to the worst of starts, falling behind with just two minutes gone when Terry Dunfield drilled home a first time shot from just outside the box. Within five minutes, however, United were level. County keeper Peter Tait fumbled a cross and Jordan Moore bundled the ball over the line. But midway through the half, Dunfield restored the hosts' lead, getting on the end of a punch out from Michal Szromnik following a corner. And ten minutes later Dunfield completed his hat-trick with a great strike from the edge of the box. Starting the second half full of purpose, United reduced the deficit eight minutes after the restart, Darren Petrie finding the far corner with a low diagonal shot from 20 yards. And they continued in that vein going close to levelling on several occasions and, with 15 minutes left, got their due rewards when Jordan Moore crashed a right foot shot into the top right-hand corner from 25 yards. Only a great save by Tait prevented Montgomery from putting the Tannadice side ahead three minutes later. In the last ten minutes, Matty Smith squandered a glorious chance fired over from a great position and a glancing header from Cammy Ballantyne went agonisingly just past. Dundee United Line Up: Szromnik, Spark (McNaughton 84), Robson, Petrie, Ballantyne, McLaughlin, Coote, B Smith, Tumilty (M Smith 66), Montgomery, Moore. Subs not used: Booth, Malaga, Duke.
