Dev League: Saints 2 United 2

10th November 2015

The Young Terrors denied table-topping St Johnstone a home victory tonight coming twice from behind to earn a point. By Peter Rundo Saints started well and were rewarded with the opener after just eight minutes. Liam Caddis played a one-two with George Hunter and slid the return under Luis Zwick from the edge of the box. Although the home side had the greater share of possession, United carved out the better chances. The best of which was a a 20-yard strike by Ali Coote with a 20-yarder which crashed off the junction of bar and post. United also had a shout for a penalty when Justin Johnson went down in the box, but that cut no ice with the impartial. Following a stray back pass from Brad Smith, Zwick showed his skills aren't limited to just handling the ball: he chested it down before an acrobatic clearance. Eight minutes from the interval, Coote played in Aidan Connolly who skipped past a defender before deservedly levelling for the Tangerines. Saints started the second half strongly and after five minutes, Zwick was at full stretch to tip Greg Hurst’s curling free-kick round the post. And shortly afterwards, Caddis sent a volley dipping just over. Just before the hour mark, Saints regained the lead when Hunter crossed for Caddis to head home from close range. Ola Adeyemo fired fractionally past with 18 minutes left as United pursued an equaliser. The Tannadice side went even closer when Zander Clark had to palm Connolly’s 30-yard drive round the post. And with three minutes left United equalised when Clark, under pressure from Graham Taylor, dropped a corner and Connolly bundled home the loose ball. St Johnstone: Clark, Comrie, Page, McCawl, Martyniuk, Millar (Simpson 60), Caddis, Hunter (Lander 71), Hurst (G Kerr 84), Thomson. Subs not used: McKenzie, Gordon, J Kerr, G Kerr, Thomson.
