This Week's Opposition

18th December 2015

Ahead of Saturday's trip to Inverness CT, columnist Joe James takes a look at the opposition. Nickname: Caley Jags Manager: John Hughes 2014-15: 3rd Their season so far... So far this season John Hughes's side have seemingly failed to live up to their hugely successful 2014-15 season - a campaign in which they recorded their first major piece of silverware in the Scottish Cup Final against Falkirk, whilst also finishing the Scottish Premiership campaign in a very respectable third position. Recording five victories, seven defeats and five draws, Caley currently occupy seventh spot in the league, however, they'll be desperate for the win on Saturday, with Partick Thistle breathing heavily down their necks. Who to watch out for... With seven goals in 12 appearances this season, without Caley front man Miles Storie's goals this season, Inverness could well have been in the mix for the relegation positions. Storie's ability to drive at defenders with pace as well as finish many chances that come his way, he's been a constant threat to defenders throughout this season. If United give him any clear space to run into, he could potentially be the difference between winning or losing. Last meeting... The sides last met back in September at Tannadice. An early goal from Billy Mckay gave United the lead inside the first half, but Josh Meekings's headed goal with just over twenty minutes to play saw Inverness draw level. Despite both teams pressing for what would have likely been the winning goal, neither side were able to take their chances, seeing both sides leave with the point. The squad..
