COACH JIM STEWART JOINS UNITED

27th June 2001

Scotland Under-21 goalkeeping coach Jim Stewart is to join the United backroom staff on a part-time basis to work with the club's three keepers and replaces Roy Baines, who has taken on a full-time post at Livingston.

Stewart also has coaching roles at Kilmarnock and Hearts but is well used to working alongside Alex Smith, who said: "Jim is an excellent coach and will work up to two days a week with Paul Gallacher, Alan Combe and Paul Jarvie."

Former YTS apprentice Jarvie has just been handed a one-year contract by United and will benefit from working with the highly-rated coach.
