Ross County Preview

26th February 2016

The Staggies have proven what is possible by recovering from a seemingly hopeless position and saving themselves from relegation in season 2014/15. By Graeme Webster Under the guidance of former United players, Jim McIntyre and Billy Dodds, County have looked strong all season and picked up the three points when we last visited the Global Energy Stadium early in the campaign. However, one of our few victories this season came against County, the last time we met at Tannadice in October. Billy Mckay scored a penalty late on in the match to secure the win. Mixu rang the changes for the visit of Hearts and he will have some tough decisions to make ahead of Saturday afternoon’s fixture. One player sure to start though will be last week’s stand-in skipper, Paul Paton. An inspiration against Hearts, the dynamic midfielder will be looking to help his team to a second successive league victory for the first time this season. Saturday’s match will be the first of a Dingwall double header as United visit County again the following weekend on William Hill Scottish Cup duty. Sandwiched between the Highland encounters is an eagerly anticipated New Firm derby. However, all thoughts regarding the visit of Aberdeen will be put on the back burner to address the challenge at hand on Saturday. Only a performance full of grit and determination will suffice if three points are to be collected and returned back down the A9. It is important we string some victories together as not only will it help confidence, but it will also instill some pressure on those above us. Much can happen as we enter the business end of the season and positive momentum at this stage can be so very important. Come On United!!!
