Match Preview

5th April 2016

Tonight, United's run of potentially season-defining matches continues, this time travelling to Glasgow's Maryhill to face Partick Thistle. By Joe James United go into the game of the back of a morale-boosting first victory at St Johnstone's McDiarmid Park in over four years. Although Ryan Dow's goal came about from a massive stroke of luck, United's flowing attacking performance in the first half and steely defensive solidity in the second period more than merited the three points, added to the fact United were playing the last half an hour or so with ten men. Now, following on from that win in Perth, United have fought their way back to being only five points behind 11th place Kilmarnock, and with the trip to Firhill being United's game in hand over Lee Clark's side, the United players, supporters and staff do not need to be told how important this game could prove to be when looking back at the end of the season. After seeing red at McDiarmid Park on Saturday, Coll Donaldson will be unavailable for the trip to Firhill whilst goalkeeper Luis Zwick remains in the stands through injury. Despite so many pundits and Scottish supporters tipping the Jags for relegation this season, former United favorite Alan Archibald's side are still very much fighting it out for a place inside the top six; however, a draw at the weekend at home to Kilmarnock has made that task slightly more difficult, with only two more matches remaining until the split. For United to beat the dreaded drop, it really is vital that on Tuesday and for the remainder of the season we continue to pick up victories and really pile on the pressure. Ticket Info:
