The final 2015/16 City of Discovery derby takes place tonight when United make the short trip across to Dens to face eighth placed Dundee. By Ally Stewart Unfortunately for all connected with the Club, the circumstances are not in the least bit positive leading into the game. The facts are simple – win the match or our relegation to the Championship will be confirmed at a ground which has been the scene of some of the Tangerines' most famous triumphs. There is no point denying that a footballing miracle is required to maintain Premiership status but for the fans the importance of dragging things out for at least another week is huge. Having backed the team in tremendous numbers despite the on field performances, they are due one last moment of relief. Home crowds remain the fourth highest in the top flight and the loyal travelling support has regularly reached well into four figures. This is something which the team will be looking to repay tonight. Mixu Paatelainen’s starting side will no doubt be tweaked again following the poor performance in the 3-1 home defeat to Hamilton. Edward Ofere offered something different in the second half with his physical power and may be given a chance to partner Billy Mckay or Simon Murray up front. The main area of headache for the boss will be at the back as they try to stave off the threat from Dundee’s top scorer Kane Hemmings and the in-demand Greg Stewart. As you would expect sales of tickets for the match have been slower than usual but there will still be a healthy number wearing tangerine and, as always, supporting their team. If the players can send the fans home happy with three points it would be the least they deserve. Ticket Info: United end tickets are still on sale and available to purchase over the counter at the Ticket Centre within the Dundee United Club Shop until 7.30pm tonight. Telephone orders can be placed by calling (01382) 833166 (option 1). Please note any pre purchased tickets must be collected by 7.30pm from the Ticket Centre. Please be aware that proof of age may be requested for concession prices. The Health Safety Team at the Club have asked that Dundee United remind all supporters that they should mainly remain seated during a match in the interest of their own and other spectators’ safety. All fans are respectfully requested to conduct themselves in a manner that does not bring the Club and its supporters into disrepute and adhere to the Dens Park Ground Regulations. Please click here for more info on Unacceptable Conduct. Supporters are advised to remain within the stand and to refrain from entering trackside or the field of play. Searches will be carried out at the turnstiles for any controlled containers and pyrotechnics. Under the Sporting Events Act 1985, being in possession of a pyrotechnic device at a football match, or attempting to bring a pyrotechnic device into a football stadium, is a criminal offence.
