Match Preview

10th May 2016

Dundee United welcome Partick Thistle to Tannadice tonight with a 7.45pm kick-off. By Gordon Aitchison Whilst Partick secured their place in the Premiership for next season with a convincing two nil away win at Kilmarnock on Saturday, United's fine three two away victory in Inverness was nothing more than consolation, with relegation confirmed by the defeat at Dens last Monday. The news that Alan Archibald has signed a new long term deal at Firhill means his men will look to impress their manager in a bid to win new deals of their own, and United's players will look to put themselves in the shop window before many of their contracts expire at the end of the season. With an uncertain future, the remaining squad will be looking to impress any prospective incoming manager. Following the win at the Caledonian Stadium, with travelling fans again winning plaudits for their consistent support this season, the team should take heart from an impressive attacking performance, especially Simon Murray's, with a fantastic long range effort and a typical poacher's finish to put the Terrors in charge by half time. Cal Morris's late red card means that he will be suspended. United have played Partick on four occasions already this season, with the Firhill side claiming three wins from the three league games and United winning one nil at home in the Scottish Cup in February.
