Ray McKinnon Dundee United Manager

12th May 2016

Ray McKinnon is the new manager of Dundee United. Ray joins the Club on a three-year-contract until May 2019. An ex-United player, the 45-year-old Dundonian made 122 appearances for the Tangerines, scoring thirteen goals in two spells at the Club. After a coaching post with the Scottish FA, he was appointed manager at Brechin City in 2012 and enjoyed a successful spell before being appointed Raith Rovers manager in the summer of 2015 where he drove the Fife club into the Ladbrokes Championship play-offs before narrowly losing out to Hibs. Speaking to dufc.co Ray said, “This is a wonderful opportunity at a Club that is close to my heart and I am looking forward to taking on the task of rebuilding Club and developing the talent required to get us where we should be. There are a lot of challenges ahead and it is important that we give ourselves every opportunity to succeed. We will work hard to build a team that the United fans can be proud of. “I want to thank everyone at Raith Rovers. I really enjoyed my time there and I am grateful to them for being so understanding of my desire to become manager of Dundee United. Raith Rovers are a fabulous, proper club whom I wish all the best.” Ray will watch Saturday’s game away to Kilmarnock from the stand.
