THUMBS UP FOR JAMIE

19th July 2001

United physio Dave Rankine gave come-back man Jamie Fullarton the thumbs up after he came through Wednesday evening's win over Helmond Sports in Holland.

Fullarton, who suffered a horrific ankle injury against Kilmarnock last November, has been training hard for some time now but the second game of the Dutch tour was his first full top team appearance for the best part of seven months.

And the good news from the team's headquarters near Arnhem in that he suffered no adverse effects.

"Jamie felt a bit of pain from the ankle, but that is normal with this kind of situation and should not be a problem," said Dave. He added that while a few knocks and strains have been picked up over the course of the pre-season there had been no serious problems and all the squad are on course to be ready for the big kick off against Dundee on Saturday week.
