Raring To Go

8th July 2016

Jamie Robson looks back on Tuesday’s friendly at Forfar with a large degree of satisfaction. The young left-back gained another 90 minutes of football and put in further intense work towards ensuring he is match fit for the start of the season. When the Development Squad graduate spoke to ArabZONE after the game, he was in a fine mood. Jamie said, “I really enjoyed getting 90 minutes and was happy with my fitness levels. I was disappointed to give away the penalty but I have to move on from it now and learn for the future.” Playing alongside so many of his fellow Development graduates - Jassem Sukar, Harry Souttar, Ali Coote, Cammy Ballantyne and Justin Johnson all took part -  made the evening more enjoyable for Jamie who made his first team debut in the CIS League Cup versus Dunfermline last season. He also revealed he is looking forward to the visit to Brechin - a club he enjoyed a good loan period with near the end of last season. He said, “I enjoyed playing alongside so many of the graduates and we are a close-knit group and look after each other out there. We know each others’ game. “I hope to get some involvement at Brechin. I have fond memories from my loan spell and it’s a great club. It would be nice to go back and play at Glebe Park as a United player. When I was on loan, I was played right wing-back and right midfield, so I managed to add goals to my game also!” Jamie has enjoyed pre-season under the guidance of Ray McKinnon and said it has been tough but enjoyable so far.  “It has been hard with a lot of running, but it is about getting the fitness levels up before the start of the season. I am getting fitter and enjoy training. I am working hard to keep up with the senior players in the squad and trying to continually show the Manager I am ready when he wants to use me."
