DUMBARTON PREVIEW

12th August 2016

United travel to Dumbarton for their first away fixture in this season's Ladbrokes Championship. United come into the game on the back of Tuesday's enjoyable 3-1 Betfred Cup victory over Partick Thistle and are keen to take all three points after the opening day draw at home to Queen of the South. Paul Dixon had an operation last Saturday on his troublesome knee, and he is expected to be the only absentee for United with Manager Ray McKinnon's biggest issue likely to be where or if to fit the free-from-suspension Nick van der Velden into his formation. Ray was keen to stress again how difficult every game is going to be in the league this season and stated, "We have to earn the right to win the fixture, and that starts from the first whistle. The tempo has to be similar to midweek, and we also have to be patient and confident." The Sons come into the match with injury doubts over several players with Frazer Wright, Garry Fraser and skipper Darren Barr all expected to be out. Tickets are sold out for the away support. Please be aware that there is a flag display scheduled by the United display team so they have requested that United fans arrive early to join in the event.
