UNITED DRAW IN GERMANY

21st July 2001

A Charlie Miller goal after twenty-four minutes,in front of a crowd of 2,400, was levelled by Aachen in the second half but it was enough to give United a 1-1 draw with the German side in this afternoon's final game of the short tour of Holland and Germany.

Charlie Miller opened the scoring when he fired the ball home from inside the penalty area chances were few and far between as United struggled to gain advantage over a well-organised Alemannia side.

The game devloped into a much more competitive affair than many such pre-season friendlies and the referee became increasingly prominent as he used his book to ensure that control was maintained.

In the second half Paul Gallacher could do nothing about the Alemannia equalised, a looping back post header from Lozanovski in the 65 minute and David Hannah had the chance to grab the winner but his strong drive from a Tassos Venetis back heal was well held by the home 'keeper.

The United team was:

Gallacher, McCunnie (Buchan), Partridge, Hannah, Griffin, Lauchlan (Aljofree), Davidson (Venetis), Miller(McCracken), Lilley(Paterson)
Fullarton, McIntyre(Hamilton)
