First Team

MATCH PREVIEW

26th August 2016

United are back at Tannadice on Saturday for the second successive weekend as the hosts welcome Raith Rovers across the Tay. The Fifers are currently sitting proudly at the top of the Scottish Championship, having taken maximum points from their opening three games. By Graeme Webster This would suggest a tough game is in prospect, however United have displayed some scintillating football at Tannadice already this season and will go into the match with great confidence. Last week's 3-0 victory over Ayr United was our first league win of the season and also our first clean sheet. Hopefully, this marks the start of a positive run of results to propel ourselves amongst the leaders in the division. Saturday will be the first time Ray McKinnon will have faced his old side since leaving Kirkcaldy for Tannadice at the end of last season. Therefore, United will have to be wary of some old pupils wanting to show their ex-boss they have heeded his guidance. On the plus side, no-one will know the Raith side better than McKinnon and hopefully these insights will prove fruitful when the game rolls around. There were a couple of firsts for United last week with Jamie Robson opening his goal scoring account for the Club and Willo Flood notching his first goal since returning from Aberdeen. With striker Simon Murray back on target again, there will be many tough decisions for McKinnon as thinks over his team selection for Saturday. With Rovers fans facing a very short trip north, a good crowd is expected in Tannadice and the visitors' current league placing and form should ensure a competitive match and a great atmosphere.
