DUNFERMLINE PREVIEW

9th September 2016

After three consecutive home games, United travel to East End Park taking on Dunfermline Athletic in the Ladbrokes Championship tomorrow. Preview by Gordon Aitchison Ray McKinnon will have been delighted to give game time to the three new arrivals with van der Struijk, Edjenguélé and Tony Andreu all playing their part in a hard fought extra time win over Peterhead in the IRN-BRU Cup. The return of Paul Dixon at the weekend will add to the Manager's selection choices and the competition throughout the team. United will go into the game looking to play the attractive, slick passing football that was in evidence in the first half against Raith. Van der Velden, in particular will be key to unlocking the Pars' defence with his ever increasing array of passing. At the back the introduction of two experienced centre-halves should help the team avoid the defensive errors which have cost points to date. The arrival of Tony Andreu, scorer of the winner on his debut, will give the Manager a variety of attacking formations given his ability to slot in anywhere along the front line. Dunfermline currently sit below United in the table, with three points from their four games to date. But manager Alan Johnston will be pleased with his side's demolition of Brechin in last weekend's cup tie. The addition of ex-United Farid El Alagui will add to the team's impressive attacking options. With the likes of Cardle, Higginbotham and Gavin Reilly all vying for a starting berth, the United rearguard will need to be on top form to secure a first away league victory of the season. With a bumper crowd expected at the game, East End Park is sure to be rocking for the three o'clock kick off.
