TWO NEW FACES AT TRAINING

5th July 2001

Two new faces, Tuesday's capture Jim McIntyre and recently-appointed goalkeeping coach Jim Stewart, joined in the action for the first time as the squad continued their pre-season exertions with another double session at Tannadice.

Skipper Jason de Vos was involved too, after returning home from international duty with Canada when their involvement in the Copa America was called off. Cameroon striker Mvondo Atangana also checked in, but did not train, with Manager Alex Smith insisting that the African undergo a check by the club doctor after his recent bout of malaria.

Smith admits to delight with what has been undertaken by his players since their recall to training a week ago. He explained, "We have had double sessions most days including last weekend, no fewer than thirteen in all. We are almost at the end of the fitness stuff, and the players have responded well".
