Dundee United will see the familiar faces of the Dunfermline players again this weekend as the team travels to East End Park for the first IRN BRU Cup quarter final of the weekend. A lunchtime kick off will see an early start for the travelling United fans, but if the last visit was anything to go by they can expect an action packed game. By Gordon Aitchison Fresh from the hard fought victory over the same opponents on Tuesday night, United will no doubt look to give game time to some of the players struggling to make the starting eleven. Lewis Toshney, Nick van der Velden, Cammy Smith and Blair Spittal will all be looking for the opportunity to impress Ray McKinnon, with the manager making minimal changes given the current good form. This will be the fourth meeting of the teams in five months, with United having the upper hand in all three encounters to date. Cammy Bell will hope that he does not have to repeat his first half antics of the last visit to Dunfermline although the sight of three penalty saves in one half will live long in the memory of those who were there. Dunfermline are struggling to make an impact in the Ladbrokes Championship with just two wins this season, they currently sit five points above St Mirren in the league and may well enjoy the “freedom” of a cup game this weekend.
