ALI UP FOR THE CUP

23rd March 2017

Ali Coote met the media on Thursday and spoke of his desire to secure his first senior cup win on Saturday. United are up against St Mirren in the Irn-Bru Cup final, and Ali is expected to play a significant role in the match. At the pre-match press conference, Ali said "I hope to play a part in the game, and I am looking forward to experiencing my first cup final as a first-team player. "The biggest experience I have had so far was being around the squad when we played Celtic in a semi-final a few years back, but this is my opportunity to try and secure a Cup victory." "We can hopefully win the Cup on Saturday and take confidence from that for the remainder of the season." Ali has progressed from development squad to a prominent part of the matchday squad and  gained game time in recent weeks. Manager Ray McKinnon had great praise for him saying, "Ali needed to be patient this season. He had to adapt his play to suit senior football, but he has impressed me in recent weeks in training and deserved his place in Saturday's squad. He is a talented footballer and has something about him." Tickets are still on sale for this Saturday’s IRN-BRU Cup v St Mirren at Fir Park (12.30pm).
