United win 3-2 over in-form St Mirren in a pulsating match with goals from Mikkelsen, Andreu and Spittal with a dramatic late winner. By Stewart Buick United took the lead seven minutes into the game after United moved the ball forward from midfield after inter-play between Flood and Murray and it was Mikkelsen who lashed the ball who from seven yards out, St Mirren got the equaliser on the thirty-eighth minute after Robson brought down Lewis Morgan and received a booking for his tackle and it was Mallen with the ball in and his header was met four yards out by Gary Mackenzie who nodded home. v St Mirren (H) 22.4.17 Half Time – Dundee United 1 – St Mirren – 1 United almost took the lead through Simon Murray after a quick free kick from Flood in the middle of the park that was touched inside to Murray from Spittal who unleashed a rocket of a shot from twenty yards which hit the underside of the bar and came back out an Mikkelsen couldn’t provide the finish from the rebound. Tony Andreu put United a head with a low placed shot from an indirect free-kick after McGinn’s pass-back to O’Brien was deemed deliberate from the officials. Flood touched the ball and Andreu hit the ball low and hard into the bottom left corner. St Mirren nearly got back level straight away after United went 2-1, after a McGinn free-kick from twenty-five yards out produced a fine save from Cammy Bell and it was the Mackenzie with a free header from five yards out which was over the bar. On the eighty second minute St Mirren got the game back on level terms after a McGinn shot wasn’t cleared by the United defence after a block from Edjenguele and it was Josh Todd who slotted the ball in to the net. United got what proved to be the winner on the ninetieth minute after a shot from Kuate was held up by Mikkelsen who touched it to Spittal whose shot was preciously curled into the bottom left hand corner of O’Brien’s net and sent the United fans into pandemonium in the stands. Full time Dundee United 3 – St Mirren 2    Man Of the Match – Willo Flood ran himself into the ground again for United and never gave up throughout the whole game and made key tackles when the visitors were on the attack.
