CLOSED-DOOR FRIENDLY ARRANGED WITH ARBROATH

15th August 2001

A closed-door friendly with Arbroath has been arranged to allow the manager to run the rule over two Tannadice trialists, one of whom is South African midfielder Philip Evans.

"The game was fixed up to allow me to have another look at the guest players and also to keep the younger players involved in match action," explained Alex Smith.

The Under-21 season begins on Monday 20 August with a home match against St. Johntone and the Under-18's get underway five days later at home against Motherwell on Saturday 25 August.

One player who won't be taking part in the closed door game with Arbroath is Stephen Wright. "Stephen won't play a part in this one, as it is so soon after his last game," added the Manager.
