United were expecting to complete the loan signing of Juventus midfielder Ronnie O'Brien on Tuesday.
The 22-year-old, who is due to sign up until the end of the season, was back in training with his prospective team-mates after spending the weekend at home in Ireland.
''We've been speaking to Juventus again today and we are making progress. The thing could be sorted out by the end of the day and it looks like we could have him in the squad for the Kilmarnock game on Sunday,'' said boss Alex Smith.
