UNITED WELCOME THE SINGING CHILDREN OF AFRICA

22nd September 2017

Dundee United welcome “The Singing Children of Africa” at this Saturday's match against Morton. The group who have created a link with St John's High School are visiting Scotland and North England in a short tour.

The children all attend a school and orphanage in Utange, Kenya created by Educate the Kids. The ages of the performers range from 9 to 14 years old. They will sing and dance in traditional African outfits to a mix of African and Scottish songs.

The group will perform at various points starting with all 30 outside the club store between 2-2.20pm.

The singers will then be divided into two groups of 15 with separate performances taking place as follows:-

Group One will be located on the ramp and within the reception area car park between 2.25-2.45pm.

Group Two will perform between 2.30-2.50pm in the George Fox Concourse.

At half-time, the singers will perform a short programme lasting seven minutes on the pitch.

There will also be bucket collections in the Eddie Thompson and George Fox Stands.

In previous years, the tour has provided the funds to build, furnish and staff the orphanage, to build the first phase of a secondary school and do necessary maintenance on all the school buildings including resurfacing the school playground, upgrading water pumps, replacing some furniture in the orphanage and improving their stockroom.
