Paul Sturrock has returned to his desk after the Ireland trip and has immediately begun negotiations with agents of the four trialists who were with the squad in the Emarald Isle.
The manager said,"When I offloaded eight players over the summer, I knew that trialists would be made available to me. They did well in Ireland, not just in terms of skill, but also as they had to adapt to a Scottish-type game. I have been making enqiries about their financial demands and am confident a few deals can be done."
Reflecting on the three matches in Dublin, which resulted in a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Bohemians, then 2-0 wins over both Bray and St Pat's, Sturrock added,"Bohemians were much sharper because they already had four games under their belts. Overall I was pleased with some individual performances, and the likes of Hasney Aljofree and Jamie Buchan got to know their new teammates."
But Sturrock is in no doubts about the most pleasing aspect of the games. "Jim Paterson managed to play in all three. I am pleased for him as he's been out of action for so long. We've missed his presence of the left side."
