LUGGY SIGNS FOR UNITED!

8th March 2018

Dundee United is delighted to announce the appointment of Paul Sturrock as Chief Scout (England) with immediate effect.

The 61-year-old Hall-Of-Famer spent fifteen years as a player at Tannadice, four years as a coach and managed the Terrors from 1998 until 2000. He then spent the following fifteen years as manager of Plymouth Argyle (twice), Southampton, Sheffield Wednesday, Swindon Town, Southend United and Yeovil Town.

United will tap into Paul’s vast knowledge and expertise of the English game and ‘Luggy’ will report directly to first-team Manager Csaba László.

Speaking to dundeeunitedfc.co.uk today, Paul said: “I am delighted to be back working for my Club. I met with Chairman Mike Martin and Manager Csaba László earlier this week and I felt that we all shared the same belief on the best way forward for Dundee United. I look forward to working hard and using my knowledge of the English game to bring talent to the Club.”

Manager Csaba László said, “This is a very positive step for the Club. We are always looking to improve things at United and with Paul on board scouting the English market and bringing possible signings at all levels, I believe this news to be very good for United."

Chairman Mike Martin said, “Paul’s passion for the Club is very evident and his knowledge of the lower leagues in England remains outstanding. Recruitment from England has to play a big part in our ability to produce talent right through the ranks.

“Seeing the instant connection between him and Csaba and after listening to Paul’s views in our meetings over the last few days, I do not doubt that this appointment will be productive for United and I am excited to welcome Paul back to Dundee United.”
