United secured a two-goal victory in their first outing of the season at Glebe Park thanks to goals by Fraser Aird and an own goal by ex-United man Euan Spark.
The tangerines started the game in excellent fashion and took the lead in the eighth minute when Aird collected the ball around twenty yards out before waltzing past a defender into the area and calmly sliding his effort beyond the keeper into the bottom left-hand corner of the net.
The game at times resembled a typical pre-season affair, but it was peppered by good movement and sharp passing from United with Booth and Aird showing up well on the left-hand side in the first half.
In an enjoyable second half, the game came to life in the final ten minutes or so when United upped the pace again. This was when the deciding second goal came following great play by Logan Chalmers with a lovely dinked ball into the area. The cross was met on the volley by James Keatings. his effort thundered off the bar and ricocheted off the unfortunate Euan Spark and trickled into the net.
United has another few chances to score more before the final whistle and can be pleased with a good night’s work.
