27th September 2001

United youth team player Stephen O'Donnell has been picked for the Scotland under-19 squad which heads for Northern Ireland this weekend.

The young midfielder is part of a 19-strong Scotland team who will take on Denmark and Northern Ireland in the three-nation tournament.
The matches are in preparation for their UEFA qualifying group, which takes place in Slovenia at the end of October.

Scotland face Denmark at Solitude Park, home of Belfast's Cliftonville FC, on Tuesday October 2 before moving across the city to Crusaders' Seaview Park to play Northern Ireland

It will be a swift return to Ulster for Stephen who was included in the Scotland Under-20 squad for the prestigious Northern Ireland Milk Cup tournament in July 2001.

Also capped at Under-16 by Scotland, right winger or midfielder Stephen is the nephew of Phil O'Donnell, the ex-Celtic and now Sheffield Wednesday player.
