LAUCHLAN SET TO PAY PITTODRIE PENALTY

25th September 2001

Jim Lauchlan today reflected on his dismissal at Pittodrie ten days ago which meant he missed the Rangers match last Saturday and may yet result in an extended ban.

"I was in the wrong and have to take the consequences," the ex-Kille man said. "I've been fined and criticised and it looks as if I am also looking at this additional suspension. But I have to accept that because there are two sides to football. When you do well you get the plaudits so when you do something stupid you have to accept the price that comes with it.

"It was never a head-butt. 'Nutting' someone would leave them on the deck or with a broken nose. But what I did wasn't clever and I accept full responsibility for the Aberdeen result because I think that if we hadn't gone down to nine men we'd have beaten them."
