BEATING HEARTS WON’T BE EASY

26th September 2001

Boss Alex Smith has warned his players to beware a backlash when United face Hearts on SPL duty at Tynecastle this weekend. While United were easing their way into round three of the CIS Cup by disposing of Dumbarton, the Capital club suffered a shock exit from the competition at the hands of Ross County. But Smith refused to accept that midweek events will hand the psychological advantage to the Tangerines on Saturday. He said, "That setback for Hearts is likely to give them a jolt and in that sense they could be even more dangerous. What we must do is take our own CIS result to Tynecastle and use it as a boost."
