PLENTY OF ATTACKING OPTIONS

10th October 2001

With so many attacking options at his disposal, boss Alex Smith may elect to make a couple of changes to the line-up in Saturday's home SPL meeting with Hibs.

There will be one enforced change at the back with centre-half Jim Lauchlan, who took part in the CIS Cup win over St Johnstone, now due to complete his two-match SPL ban. Now Smith will mull over his somewhat healthier options up front, before deciding on a starting eleven to face Alex McLeish's men.

He said, "Steven Thompson was a substitute at Tynecastle, but came on and scored. Jim Hamilton did the same in our cup win against St Johnstone, and everybody knows how hard working and effective Derek Lilley can be."

"These three have been competing for the two places up front, but I must also keep in mind the progress being made by David Winters and Stephen McConalogue. They both did very well in our Forfarshire Cup game with Brechin last week. "

"And attacking midfielders Tassos Venetis and Ronnie O'Brien were outstanding in that game too -so I have plenty of options to consider for the attacking areas."
