ULT83 BREAST CANCER AWARENESS DAY AT TANNADICE THIS SATURDAY

5th December 2019

Dundee United supporters’ group ULT83 is aiming to raise awareness of breast cancer at Saturday’s match.

ULT83 seeks to encourage supporters, female and male, to check themselves regularly and seek medical advice if they are worried about anything. With one in eight women and one in 870 men diagnosed with breast cancer every year, it is vitally important for everyone to be aware of the disease and early detection is key.

Players will be warming up in designated t-shirts to support the ULT83 bucket collection, leaflet drop and online appeal in aid of Breast Cancer Now.

“Stephanie Inglis, Community Fundraising Executive (Scotland) at the research and care charity Breast Cancer Now said: “Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK – around 4,700 people are diagnosed with breast cancer and around 1,000 people die from the disease each year in Scotland. We must act now to make greater progress for everyone affected by this disease and I would like to sincerely thank Dundee United and ULT83 for their support.”

Kay Sievewright, Chair of ULT83 stated, “We are proud to organise this event at our football club to raise awareness as well as funds to support those who are diagnosed with breast cancer.”

United’s Managing Director Mal Brannigan added: “Breast cancer is a disease that affects men as well as women and it is important that the Club, through the players wearing the awareness t-shirts today, participates in helping to get this message across. I would like to thank ULT83 for continuing to highlight and support this cause.”

Supporters can join the fundraising effort remotely at breastcancernow.org/donate leaving the message “Dundee United”, and for more info on ULT83, please email ult-83@outlook.com.
