MATCH REPORT | A PROMOTION PARTY AT TANNADICE

Dundee United Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Tony Davidson as a non-executive director of the Club.
Mr Davidson (53) is a Dundonian and lifelong Dundee United supporter. Son of the late Dr R.B. Davidson, a well known Dundee general practitioner, he attended Morgan Academy and Dundee University.
A chartered accountant and former banker, he was chief executive of the TSB of Tayside and Central Scotland, based in Dundee, in early 80s and was subsequently an executive director of TSB Scotland.
Prior to returning to live in Scotland a few years ago, Mr Davidson was chief executive of Provincial Insurance and an executive director of Sun Life and Provincial Holdings.
He is currently Chairman of Fleming's Worldwide Investment Trust and non-executive director of a number of prominent institutions including Sun Life of Canada UK.
He is a keen golfer who is married with four grown up children and lives in Perthshire.
Mr Davidson said :
"It is a great opportunity for me to get involved with the club I have supported all my life and I hope I will bring experience and knowledge which will provide real, practical benefits to Dundee United and Dundee United supporters.
"Football in general is facing a very challenging future and it will be my task to carry out a full review of United's financial structures to ensure the club is best placed to take full advantage of the new opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
"This is a great club with a great support and a very proud history. Like all Dundee United fans, I want to see us back to our rightful place challenging for honours at the highest reaches of the game."
United Chairman Doug Smith commented :
"We're delighted to be able to welcome someone of Tony's calibre and experience to the Board at Tannadice.
"He provides the club with a very experienced and safe pair of hands and his knowledge can only help Dundee United make the most of a promising future.
"He's a United man through and through and I'm sure all our supporters will want to give him a warm and longlasting welcome."
