RYAN'S ROAD TO RECOVERY

5th October 2001

Ryan Waddell's comeback from a broken ankle injury he sustained last week when he fell awkwardly in training will not be rushed, confirmed coach John Blackley today.

"Initially we thought Ryan would be out of action for seven to eight weeks, but eight weeks now looks to be the minimum absence and it could be as much as twelve weeks. The main thing is not to rush things and we will be watching his progress very carefully over the next few weeks."

Ryan, who became a full-timer with United on 26 June 2000, has a number of examples around Tannadice of players who have comeback after long lay-offs and one such player is Stephen Wright. "Stephen is training every day, has played a few games now, of course, and is getting stronger and stronger. We're all delighted for him, " said John Blackley.
