ALEX SMITH’S MONDAY RELECTIONS ON WEEKEND ACTION

29th October 2001

By Monday lunchtime, United Manager Alex Smith remained very disappointed that his side had managed only a score draw against Motherwell at the weekend. “A draw was a fair result but I am disappointed that we did not win at home,” said Alex. “I thought we were the brighter side in the first half however losing an early goal in the second period set us back and, in the end, I thought a draw was just about the right result.” There were a few plus points for the United Team boss. “I was pleased with Jim Lauchlan and thought he was more like his old self again. Craig Easton did well and so did Jim Paterson when he came on. I was also pleased that we moved into the top six. Clearly our aim will be to stay there.”
