WRIGHT AND FULLARTON’S FORM PLEASES MANAGER

24th October 2001

Manager Alex Smith was delighted with a couple of the performances in Monday night's Under-21 draw with Hearts at Tannadice. At the back Stephen Wright turned in a solid performance that may earn him a starting place at the right back when Motherwell visit on Saturday. The versatile defender could take over from teenager Jamie McCunnie who is now away on international duty with Scotland in Slovenia. The other man to catch the Manager's eye was Jamie Fullarton, who got an hour on his comeback from the groin problem that had sidelined him for the entire campaign so far. The midfielder came through the game without any further problems. "Jamie got an hour and looked far closer to full match fitness than we expected. It might not be too long before we see him back challenging for the first team", said Alex.
