CARSON NETS TWO IN UNDER 21’S VICTORY

29th October 2001

Dundee United Under-21’s got back onto the goal trail in a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Hibernian this afternoon. Two goals from Stephen Carson, one of which was a spectacular 18-metre strike, put the Tangerines two up at half time however it could all have been so different but for an excellent Alan Combe penalty stop with the scores tied at 0-0. A Jim Paterson header in the second half sealed three valuable points for United as they climbed up to the eight point mark from seven matches. The home side had a player red-carded with ten minutes remaining but by then the match had already finished as a contest. A pleasing aspect was that Jamie Fullarton came through the ninety minutes comfortably bringing him ever closer to first team contention. The United side was Combe, Duff, Trialist, Partridge, Paterson, Venetis, O’Brien, Fullarton, McConalogue, Carson and Buchan. The subs who came on were Reilly, Winters and O’Donnell.
