BERWICK RANGERS 3 DUNDEE UNITED XI 1

30th June 2021

A young Dundee United squad made the journey down to Berwick for a run out against their Lowland League hosts as fans attended a United game for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic stopped fans attending. The young Terrors were cheered on by the travelling tangerine army as Fin Malcolm grabbed the Tangerines' goal against an experienced Rangers team.

The Young Terrors equipped themselves well in the first half with Lennon Walker having their best chances.

The young attacker first fired in a free kick that tested Berwick keeper Andrew McNeil. Soon after, Walker scooped a breakaway chance narrowly over the bar.

However, the Terrors went in 1-0 down at the break after Lewis Allan slotted home on 41 minutes.

The young Terrors rang the changes in the second half with Lewis O'Donnell, Stuart Heenan, Sam Lovie, Fin Malcolm and Rory MacLeod all entering the fray.

Our development team coped well as the game progressed but Berwick’s experience showed as Calum Smith made it 2-0 on 74 minutes.

However, subs MacLeod and Malcolm combined to pull one back for the Terrors, with the latter getting on the end of the former’s cross to stab home.

A trialist got Rangers’ third to close what was, overall, a worthwhile and beneficial experience for United’s rising stars as they enjoyed the experience of having United fans in the stadium once more.
